Let's use VLC player!
STEP 1. Run the application (click ‘Start’ and then click ‘VLC media player’). Here you see the main window of VLC Media Player.
On the top, there are drop-down menus (1) for playback control, Audio, Video, and Subtitles settings, and suchlike.
As you see, you can drag-and-drop video file in the central area to watch it.
click on ‘Media’ on the top and then click ‘Open File’.
use keyboard shortcut CTRL+O to open file.

STEP 2. When watching video you need to left double-click in the video area to watch it full screen.
Note, that while watching video:
to pause/resume playback tap Space on the keyboard;
to decrease/increase volume scroll down/up the mouse wheel (sound may be increased up to 200%);
to zoom-in/out video press Z;
to crop video tap C on the keyboard;
to choose subtitles tap V;
to change audio track tap B.
STEP 3. In order to personalize toolbar, click on 'Tools', and then select the line 'Customize Interface'.
You can add and delete buttons for quick access to different setting in the tab Customize Interface.
On the right (arrow 1), you can personalize the position of the toolbar, add buttons, and change their order.
On the left (arrow 2), there are located buttons, which you need to drag-and-drop to add to the Toolbar.
After you set up the Toolbar, save your profile (3), and click ‘Close’.
STEP 4. Open the tab Preferences if you need to personalize VLC Media Player.
Usually it is presented as ‘Simple Preferences’, which means that there are only commonly used toggles and buttons. It is more than enough to personalize VLC Media Player.
1 – show general or all settings.
Arrow 2 – switch between tabs to change all settings.
Arrow 3 – tick/un-tick necessary boxes to personalize.
4 – save preferences.
